While, i've not yet update my version of HTML_Table since 1.7.2, i did it few minutes ago. After downloading HTML_Table 1.7.4 on a local folder, i run command : pear upgrade [localFolder]\HTML_Table-1.7.4.tgz And here is my suprise to see these results : downloading HTML_Common-1.2.3.tgz ... Starting to download HTML_Common-1.2.3.tgz (4,746 bytes) .....done: 4,746 bytes upgrade ok: channel://pear.php.net/HTML_Common-1.2.3 upgrade ok: channel://pear.php.net/HTML_Table-1.7.4 Why i'm surprised ? Because i've already installed HTML_Common 1.2.2, and HTML_Table 1.7.4 dependency said : min HTML_Common 1.2.0 Strange isn't it ? BTW, the package xml 2.0 of HTML_Table 1.7.4 is very short (no changelog) Mark is it normal (as you expect to have) ?

Hi, As of package.xml 2.0, dependencies are installed or upgraded. This means that it always processes dependencies to ensure that the upgrade is possible, and will upgrade to the latest version of things if possible, unless you put a <recommended> tag in the dependency to stop this. <min> just says it must be a minimum of 1.2.0, it does not say to avoid upgrading if possible. It's only strange because you aren't used to PEAR being smart because with package.xml 1.0 it wasn't :). Every other package distribution system in the world upgrades/installs dependencies automatically, and this was added with package.xml 2.0 to bring PEAR into the 21st century. :) Greg Thanks for this quick answer Greg.
Finally i have again much more to learn about package xml 2.0 and certainly PEAR_PackageFileManager ;-) Laurent
