I don't think XML-RPC is really simpler than SOAP as long as we use
only simple data types and no routing, so why lost time hacking some
XML-RPC stuff instead of producing the base of a future SOAP
implementation ?

Well, that's not really true, some things have changed in SOAP 1.1
