Unless I'm missing something - these 'controversial issues' have re-appeared in their original horrific form. eg. Force autoload on everyone...
Namespaces look like a complete mess, having read internal's for the few months.. - Sticky taping a idea into a language that was never really designed for it... PHP, is becoming the Ducktape language of tommorow...... ;)
Anyway - I dont see any real value in PEAR2, at present, and would probably be quite happy with PEAR1.. for the next few years...

Alan

Hello all, The PEAR Group would like to announce the PEAR2 Standards. We want to point out the document is not final. Everybody is encouraged to take a look and give feedback. You can refer to the document as "version 1" of the standards. The document which served as a basis was already discussed and controversial issues have been moved out for further discussion. Policies that will be applied to PEAR2 will be the subject of another document. The document will expire on March 1, 2008, to be reevaluated and renewed by the PEAR Group. You can find the document at the following url: http://pear.php.net/manual/en/pear2cs.php ps: and merry christmas !
