Hi Tim,
I think that the changes need some work. Specifically, there are some
problems with the CSS code. This is a shot of how
http://www.smur.net/knife/doc/ renders in Konqueror 2.9.9 and Mozilla
0.9.8.
I have not had the time to test my css in Konqueror...
I'm pretty surprised that it didn't like my div tags though.
It might be the "em" units I'm using for layout...
Seems like a pretty minor thing to get fixed.
I have a redhat 7.2 box at home (not hooked up or turned on) I'll get it fired up and work with it as time allows.
In the mean time, I have left the original templates in.
I'm pretty sure that my changes haven't broken the command line version of phpdoc, but if someone wants to test it and let me know that would be appreciated.

Perhaps there are some Internet Explorer or font-specific changes in the
CSS that causes the pages to render incorrectly in both browers? Do your
changes overwrite the old template files, or work in addition to them? I
would not want to lose the old template files.
Also, did you notice that the phpdoc file in cvs currently performs the
same tasks as your revised index.php, just from the command-line? I was
just wondering why you were changing the index.php for every project
anyway, when the command-line interface was there. I viewed the current
index.php as just an example, not something to really use.
I did notice the command line version of PHPDoc, but I didn't like the command line version.
I just leave a window open with it sitting there, and hit reload when I want to regenerate the documentation.
It's just a matter of taste, but I think there is definitely room for a web interface to PHPDoc. Imagine a site that would allow uploads of zip, tar, and gzip files which it would unpack, and run PHPDoc on, putting the results either back into a tar file, or allowing direct online viewing after parsing... there are some interesting things that could be done with a web interface.
I never did change index.php for every different project, I wrote the front-end before I started using it. :)
also,
and this isn't in the file on smur, although I will post a new one right now
http://www.smur.net/code/phpdoc312.zip
I now have both templates in the source tree (my new template, and the original template).
If you look at the source code, you'll see I added a file for setting different templates up, (/renderer/html/templates.php) which should make it very easy to add your own templates to PHPDoc. On the front end browser interface, a drop down list is used to allow user selection of different templates.
another improvement is that the static files are now copied also. i moved the files from /apidoc/keep/ to /renderer/html/default/static
and to (for my templates) /renderer/html/timmyg/static
/renderer/html/templates no longer exists, BUT it was moved to /renderer/html/default to make it more consistent with new template directories.
the biggest point of problem will arise from my use of $_SERVER, and $_REQUEST variables in index.php, but I'm working on a file (in the root directory) named versionSanity.php that should populate those variables if running on a server with a version of php below 4.1.0
With my changes (and a few other's I've noticed already in cvs) the minimum version required to run PHPDoc is now 4.0.0
that pretty much sums it up...
I am always open to suggestions, criticisms etc.
