Ouch! It's harder than I thought I stopped using cvs long time ago when I switched to svn I'll try this on windows today Sent from my iPhone On Mar 9, 2009, at 1:15 PM, David Coallier <davidc@php.net> wrote:

What is the simplest way to create a patch of php file using diff command? For example, I want to create a patch for a file in /usr/local/php/lib/php/Net/GeoIP.php I made a new version of file, put it in the same directory /usr/local/php/lib/php/Net/GeoIP2.php What is the correct command to make a patch that will work?
Usually what you will do is create a patch against the repository so in your case you'd have to do 1) cd ~/your/development/path 2) cvs -d :pserver:cvsread@cvs.php.net:/repository checkout pear/Net_GeoIP 3) cd pear/Net_GeoIP 4) Make changes to your GeoIP file there 5) Write a test for your patch 6) then the final command is: "cvs diff -u > BugNumber.patch" And you are done :) Just make sure you are making patch from the repository --Slan, David
