Hi all,
First thanks to all that mail me about PHP_CompatInfo, interest they give to this package.
No need to mention your names, you will recognize all.
As I've already explained 2 month ago in this same mailing list [1], I've begun to work on a new API 1.10, that will :
- allow to detect more PHP5 features (Exception, PPP (Public, Protected, Private), ...)
- allow to detect global variable
- allow to know where a function, class is defined and called
- and all other stuff you can't imaging now.
I've already begin to write a "Why" (draft) I used the tokenizer extension rather than PHP5 Reflection API.
This draft will be available soon and will be follow by an alpha version of PHP_CompatInfo 1.10.0
Core of this new API 1.10 is a full rewrite of code detection.
Since almost the beginning when Davey wrote the first engine, this one as not evolved. I think it's now time to come to break the monolith (it's not derogatory).
Because, I've proposed my new "PHP_Reflector" package as the base of PHP source code detection, and have received no real enthusiasm from the PEAR community, I've decided to stop the development in PEAR repository,
and provide the new version on my own site.
Many reasons I see :
- PHP_Reflector, can be used as a standalone package
- PHP_CompatInfo 1.10.0 will use PHP_Reflector that did not received approval of PEAR community.
- PHP_CompatInfo 1.10.0 is still a PHP4 Backward Compatible package
Now, I've finished a work (PEAR_TestListener) that I like for many reasons, I've now free time to complete the work on PCI started 2/3 month ago.
A first alpha release will be available shortly.
You can add bug or features request in PEAR bugtracker. I've opened a dev roadmap for 1.10.0a1
Feel free to reply to this post as you want; you're welcome !
Laurent
