Michael Gauthier wrote:- SriramHi Sriram, What version of Solaris are you using, and can you open the downloaded files using other programs? I ran into some problems using OpenSolaris in a VM where the OpenSolaris machine would only partially download files.Sriram, Try downloading the tar version with the -Z option pear install -Z anypackage and see if it still hangs. You may have a buggy zlib extension (PHP before 5.2.6 had a serious bug in its implementation that could cause a hang) thanks for the pointer. install -Z worked. I am using php 5.2.9 . I think, there is an issue with zlib. Is there a simple way to enable logging within pear to find out exactly which call is causing this hang. I did some basic debugging (using gdb and truss) and it seems to me that zlib is not recognizing the 'end of file' for some reason. Would like to know why though.
