Horde components, deprecating old pear compontent

Hey Chuck, I just noticed http://pear.php.net/package/Text_Diff/<http://pear.php.net/package/Text_Diff/redirected> got deprecated for Horde_Text_Diff. There's a few others that particularly you and Jan have been involved in that are in PEAR; and now have younger, better loved versions in Horde. Am I right in assuming a lot of these are largely PHP5 ports of existing APIs, with added test coverage (woo: jenkins @ http://ci.horde.org/)? IE: Horde_Log looks to be a drop in replacement for Log. If so; can you guys perhaps give us non horde folks a quick walkthrough of what you are doing with the old packages; advice on people upgrading/migrating, etc? If there's anything else we can do to encourage migration from older; less maintained components; we'd love to know.
