Hi, I hope to have some time replying to some of your questions.
The XML stuff is taken directly from Metabase (which is also used in
binarycloud) and the author is Manuel. So he should be the ideal person
to answer your questions. There is also a manual which you will find
here:

BTW: its awesome you are taken a look at MDB :-)
