Hi,
Things are moving... and I will commit to CVS shortly.
Does anyone on this list have experience of NetPBM??? I started trying to do a driver class for it but have run into endless problems. Fo starters, all functionality is in separate tiny programs unlike ImageMagick, which requires lots of exec() calls in the code. What's the problem you may be asking? Well, this requires the use of a temporary file. No big deal, until you try and think about getting it to work on Windows - and getting the / to \ in the commands etc. I believe the File:: class in PEAR will help with the temp file problem, but does anyone have any tips on getting exec() commands to work cross-platform?
Also, does piping work on Windows (eg exec("jpegtopmn|rotate -r90|pmntojpeg"))? Looking at the source code for Gallery (http://gallery.sf.net) they have used piping throughout to get netpbm to work. Is this necessary or am I missing something? I was hoping to construct the command as per ImageMagick, but it appears that is impossible. However, I have zero knowledge of NetPBM so if someone could correct me I'd be very grateful.
Thanks,
Peter.
