I am currently working on a complete application framework based on
PEAR, too. It's center is an implementation of the MVC concept as used
in the Struts framework for Java (http://jakarta.apache.org/struts/).
I want to include Template features, too, but right now I am more
concentrated on the Controller and Model part than the View part.
Currently my MVC framework supports:
- Session storage in the database using a SessionHandler and
HTTPSession class
- Abstraction of GET/POST/COOKIE/ENV/SERVER vars in an HTTPRequest
object
- Access Control Lists (in a very alpha phase, though)
- I18N features for localization
- central logging facility through PEAR DB/Log class
Currently I use the old PEAR DB classes for database access, since I
haven't tried out MDB, yet. I am using a MySQL backend for testing,
but moving to another DB should be no problem due to PEAR DB.
Most of the error handling is done the PEAR:raiseError() style
already, and I try to include many phpdoc compliant comments in the
code.
If someone is interested I could publish a current CVS snapshot of my
work. Maybe we could gather forces to enhance development on this
kind of framework?
