I asked a question yesterday on the current status of the PHPDoc project... It seems as if nobody patched it for a while and it's still pretty buggy. I read the previous threads on PHPDoc as someone told me and I couldn't find any decision concerning the status of the project. Is the PHPDoc project abandoned ? Will PHPDocumentor replace PHPDoc ?
I really hope so. phpDocumentor (http://phpdocu.sourceforge.net/) is very much alive and mature, and it's compatible with PHPDoc, meaning that the comments already written in PEAR don't need to be changed. From http://phpdocu.sourceforge.net/#5 : "During testing for the release of Phpdocumentor 1.0.0rc1 the entire PEAR tree was documented. This includes the PEAR base libraries from php 4.2.0 and the entire cvs PEAR module checked out on 5-19-2002." A move towards phpDocumentor wouldn't really require the programmers to learn something new. All it requires is for the FAQ line "has documentation about its API in the PHPDoc format" to be changed to "has documentation about its API in the phpDocumentor format " : )
