Call me lazy, but cron jobs are easy, and cpu time (to
build the snapshot) and bandwidth (to fetch it) are cheap.
Anyway even when Pear is 200MB of PHP code, that should
still be a pretty managable tar.gz (tar.bz2) considering
the compression ratio on PHP code. =)
I don't really need snapshots, but I *really* do want some
way to update all of pear in under 200 keystrokes (without
having to have PHP CLI installed). I just thought snapshots
might be an easy way to do it, and might make it that much
easier for new pear developers to get up to date.
