I would prefer some method that does not need the PHP CLI.
For some reason I frequently end up on boxes that do not
have a /usr/local/bin/php, even though there is a
/usr/local/bin/pear. Though I suppose if "pear update all"
were implemented, it would be reason enough for me to
rebuild PHP with the CLI.
Can we do both? *grin*
