I don't think it's really wise to keep thinking of PEAR as a catch-all bin for all sorts of public PHP classes and code groupings. It's better (for PEAR's future) to view it more as a repository for PHP components. Now with Horde, for example, we have an application framework based on a number of such classes. Some of these classes are cleanly encapsulated and would be good PEAR material (we've already contributed the Log package), but others are simply too Horde-specific for general use, meaning they would be next to useful for anyone not using the rest of Horde. Without looking at Binary Cloud or other frameworks, I'd have to assume the same will be true of them, and it just seems "messy" (for lack of a better word) to store them in PEAR. I would be far more infavor of _individual components_ of such frameworks being contributed to PEAR, provided they were well abstracted, generalized, and documented. -- Jon Parise (jon@csh.rit.edu) .
