According to recent news on php-dev, Andrei is going to branch PHP
4.3.0 as soon as two or three outstanding critical bugs are fixed.
Even if the release is still weeks away, for us this means that we
should get our asses up and start cleaning up the
infrastructure, because I personally don't want to see the release
process of PHP being delayed because of PEAR. Apart from that we
should stress-test both the PEAR installer and the website.
As a start it would be nice to see who has patches pending that should
be in 4.3.0. Apart from that we are seeking people that are willing to
try the PEAR installer on their machines (it looks like especially
Windows setups need some testing).
I guess the website right now only has some more or less serious bugs
in release uploading. The two most important onces seem to be:
a) dependencies are not registered.
b) maintainers are not properly assigned in the database.
In addition to this two issues, we should perhaps try to get the new
version of the manual out soon. Alexander: How far are you with this?
