This class is very interresting. In fact I started thinking about something ... Do you have made any benchmark about it ?I would give so much for the benchmarks. Also make sure you are looking at the right benchmarks. For example for quite sometime it seems nobody ran the benchmarks mentioned in that thread I posted in an earlier reply on anything but mysql and surprise the result on firebird where radically different. I am personally not so impressed by Creole. I looked at the source a few times and I kept seeing problems that other more established abstraction layers have solved long ago (I think I have reported most of these issues and I am sure work on creole continues). So the main advantages of creole imho are somewhat superficial: JDBC like API, E_STRICT compliance. The only real benefit I see is compatiblity with Propel, while it doesnt blow my mind it looks quite alright. BTW: MDB2 is fully tested to work on PHP5. But then again it has not been released as stable, since I am still im the process of syncing with the ext/pdo, which initself is also a running target. This brings us to another possibility: http://pecl.php.net/package-info.php?package=PDO http://pecl.php.net/package-search.php?pkg_name=pdo&bool=AND&submit=Search This is not an abstraction layer (it does abstract some things like prepared statements) though, but it does unify your RDBMS client API. regards, Lukas
