can't help you with autosize but for the Excel date format look here:

You can (re)format dates with the date() function:
http://de.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php
So to turn "YYYY-mm-dd HH:II:SS" into "dd.mm.yyyy hh:ii:ss":
$date = '2004-19-11 17:42:00';
$newDate = date('d.m.Y H:i:s', strtotime($date));
