You can read a lengthy discussion on this topic here: http://www.digitalsandwich.com/archives/34-What-did-exceptions-ever-do-to-you.html Essentially I think that exceptions dont fit the PHP development way.Like I said I will not take part in any development of PHP5 only PEAR packages due to the exception useage requirement so I am the wrong guy to ask about DB2 specifically. However if the target date of 2006 sticks I am quite sure there will be a stable PDO by that time. What exactly is the problem with exception ?, is that the specification to use the pear exception handler in PHP5 ? I would prefer to start using PHP5 based pear packages seeing that I am on a PHP5 system now. Oh
I thought you were going to be porting DB2 ? What is happening with MDB2 then ? Damn 2006 is a long long away for waiting for the PDO , so will the PDO be the successor for all of them ?I will continue to work on MDB2 and I will probably introduce PDO based drivers at some point too. However MDB2 will remain PHP4 compatible. regards, Lukas
