how to install pear package in Windows

Dear All, Yesterday I sent the question below to the Usenet group php.windows. So far no reply. Since then I tried to extract the pear archive to a subdirectory called pear of the directory C:\usr\lib\php\ where I installed PHP. The pear.bat script however resulted in a terrible error. I am a newbie to PHP, but not to ASP. I used the PHP 4.2.2 installer from http://nl.php.net for Windows to get PHP up and running ;-) It seems to me that PEAR can help to maintain the programming style I am used to. I do not have time to learn all already :-( Please indicate to us where you found the archive you used to get the PEAR package manager installed. I hope it will also work for me.
