If you have checkouted fresh CVS copy, you can use standart `pear'
command to install or upgrade PEAR packages. I'm using this four command
combo each week after few CVS updates. You should specify your paths to CVS
directories as well.
find /home/ondrej/prog/CVS-others/pear/ -type f -name 'package*.xml' -exec pear install {}
\;;
find /home/ondrej/prog/CVS-others/php4/ -type f -name 'package*.xml' -exec pear install {}
\;;
find /home/ondrej/prog/CVS-others/pear/ -type f -name 'package*.xml' -exec pear upgrade {}
\;;
find /home/ondrej/prog/CVS-others/php4/ -type f -name 'package*.xml' -exec pear upgrade {}
\;;
My system is RPM based, but since `pear' command writes only into
/usr/share/pear/ directory, it is easy to get system again into consistent
state with just removing
which pear script and also removing mentioned
/usr/share/pear/ directory.
I don't know if this is an official way, but it worked for me well.
Btw. it seems to be much simplier than any Perl package installation or
upgrade. ;-)
Hope it helps,
