Hi, I'd like to determine if PEAR is available in the PHP installation my ISP has set up.
require_once('PEAR.php'); However, you should probably just install a local copy. See the PEAR manual page on installing in a shared environment. -- Justin Patrin
Yes I trying to set it up on my server before anything else. I have ran the go-pear.bat and followed the defaults. Created a simple php page of the example you provided and this is what I get: Warning: main(PEAR.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\lao\phppear.php on line 2 Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'PEAR.php' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in c:\program files\apache group\apache\htdocs\lao\phppear.php on line 2 What am I missing to get this to run?
Your include_path. -- Justin Patrin
Alright I was able to figure that much out... but where does the include path go? In the PHP file(script)... or somewhere in the environment variables... or in the PHP.ini file? or somewhere else?
php.ini. Please start actually looking at the manual or trying google before posting these qestions. -- Justin Patrin
Thanks for the reply. As always I try to find the answer first.... I have read the manual not all of it but at least the Preface and Chapters 1 thru 3. Which are Introduction, Installation and Support. I have searched for php.ini in the one big html file manual and found what you have suggested in Chapter 6 FAQ. Perhaps this one line instruction would be better placed in the Installation Chapter.
include_path is something from PHP, a config option, and hence it's more part of the PHP manual. A quick Google search also should have given you that answer. -- Justin Patrin I also did a google search Justin of my error.
Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'PEAR.php' include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') The first result is a Bug Report with no conclusion. The second result is a link to a site with certificate pop-ups Third result requires a userid/password to view the page Fourth example of a login script... etc. Perhaps I shall try Yahoo the next time... wait... bingo would have found it on the first result. It seems nowadays that google is really manipulating the results. - Glenn
