Hallo!
I'm another one joining the discussion, interested in DB_DataObject.
There is a feature in it that I am missing: if the record has been modified
while the client had the editing form opened, the DB_DataObject will simply
overwrite the changes using
update ... where id=x.
PostgreSQL enables to overcome this problem using
update ... where id=x and xmin=old_xmin;
If the record has been updated, this last SQL will update no record (as xmin
of the record has changed) and checking how many records have been actually
updated can enable the code to report the problem to the user.
Is there any solution to this problem implemented already? If not, and if there
is interest, I am prepared to implement it for PGSQL (or for general database,
if one points me out how to do it).
Best regards,
Drago

Well, LiveUser works on a plugin approach, so you can add your own backends for permission and authentication. You can use several backends for auth and perm. Markus has a medium permission management driver almost ready AFAIK. There is also the need of writing a simple permission management backend (which looks more suited to your needs), but i don't think any work has been done on it so far. The great thing would be that you write (or help to write :)) such a backend so it could be introduced into the package. I plan on using it, sometimes in the end of november, at that time i should be able to devote some time to it. Markus, Lukas, any thoughts ? Arnaud.
