Hi,
after accidentaly posting my questions about date to pear-general and
not even being subscribed i missed the discussion that i started :-)
well according to sterling setlocale is not thread safe which is another
reason to find a different solution if we want something that works in
general.
It really sounds like l0t3k is working on something very interesting,
but if its ze2 only it will not be a path any of us can take soon.
I will look at how java handles this because I guess they probably have
something fairly useable. I have a pretty good concept for i18n and l10n
for my framework and only date is missing from that. The ideas that
wolfram mentioned sound like a good direction. To me PEAR:Date looks a
bit messy atm so I will dig through it some more. In the end I will have
to see if I rather developer something for my own needs (I actually have
something in my framework atm which works but is not yet what I want) or
if extending/fixing PEAR:Date is worth while.
I sort of fear that working on PEAR:Date will either great a very
bloated class or break BC and piss of the existing users. So something
new might need to be greated.
Regards,
Lukas Smith
