PEAR MDB is an abstraction layer just like PEAR DB

So you are talking about working on the existing ODBC extension?
I know someone is working on the ODBC extension (cleaning it up and
extending it to the latest ODBC features).
If you are than PEAR General is not the right place. Probably PHP DEV is
where you want to go ...
