Nope. Not possible. I´m unsure on what´s the minimum version for just the PEAR base classes to run, but I´d expect it to be 4.0.6 or even 4.1.0. The PEAR installer wasn´t fully functional before 4.2.3 and will not be officially released until the (imminent) release of 4.3.0. If you want something remotely like PEAR for PHP3, use PHPLib - then again, PHPLib is just a base framework for session management, database abstraction, authentication and form generation and lacks many of the more interesting packages that PEAR offers.
