Well, as I said, the problem was fixed with the addition of the zlib library
to my PHP. However prior to this fix, I wasn't getting checksum errors on
ALL the packages, in fact out of the five I installed only AUTH gave me
trouble. The manual says to skip the lynx step if you have PHP >4.3.0pre1
(I had 4.3.0) so I did. Can someone verify the mechanism for pulling down
packages if zlib isn't part of the PHP compile? Does the server gunzip the
tgz on the fly or was it gunzipped by an author and placed in archive next
to the tgz?
