And further to that, I have to ask: How viable is it to use an alpha release in a production environment? Is the API going to change as it comes to a final release? What are the timelines for bringing it to release? I love the concept, i'm just a little scared off of developing an application on top of an alpha package.

First, this was already discussed before, PEAR::Auth is authentication package. Adding permissions to it does not make much sense. Second, liveuser might be more what you are looking for. It is not *that* complicated. Doc is being written but is still in early stages. Iam delightedhow "easy" development is by using PEAR classes. Right now I am implementing a website where I need some kind of authentication. Not hard to do with help of theauth-package. My problemthat came up during the last hours is that I needpermissions to accesscetain pages. Lets say I want to have five different levels of permissions like "user", "author", "editor", "supervisor"and "admin". Anice to have feature would be inclusive permissions. As I figured out, PEAR Auth does not provide thisfunctionality. I alsoread about LiveUser. Seems to satisfy my wishes and a lotmore, but Ithink it is to complicated for just implementing my"simple" permissionscheme, and the documentation is not such an advanced statefor a newbieto get started. I'd like to ask if somebody ever has extended PEAR Auth tosatisfy myrequirements. I would be glad to just get some tips of youout there howyou would face my "problem". If somebody would be so kindto provide mean extended class, that would allow me to go out tonight tohave a beermaybe ;-) Thanks anyway -- Cheers Marco-- PEAR General Mailing List (http://pear.php.net/) To unsubscribe, visit: http://www.php.net/unsub.php
