I'm happy to add that, but why would someone want to do that? Presumably
if no defaults have been set then text boxes, text areas, etc, are set
to an empty string, select boxes have the first in the list selected,
etc; if defaults have been set then we know the values. I'm probably
missing something...

OK, I'm new to PEAR. Could you elaborate?

The warning only applies to hierselect - do you believe that the order
is still unimportant for hierselect? If so then I will submit a bug
report (where do I do that?).

Nice idea: I'll add that.

It was written using the Gentoo documentation toolkit (Gentoo is a Linux
distro). See http://www.gentoo.org/ in general and
http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xml-guide.xml
in particular. The source is
XML; I'm happy to make that available but perhaps anyone who wants it
could contact me via mail.

Of course. The documentation I have written is provided under the
Creative Commons license - see

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I'll try to update the pages
in the next few days and post here when they are.
