Hi! Keith Edmunds wrote:
In "Defaults, Constants and processing" you probably need to address getting the values of the elements, not only setting them.
I'm happy to add that, but why would someone want to do that? Presumably if no defaults have been set then text boxes, text areas, etc, are set to an empty string, select boxes have the first in the list selected, etc; if defaults have been set then we know the values. I'm probably missing something...
Yes, you are missing the fact that the form can actually be submitted. :]
In "Element groups" you give only the 'aesthetic' reason to using groups, while there are more.
OK, I'm new to PEAR. Could you elaborate?
Well, you can group checkboxes and radios. You can use setValue() / getValue() on group to get its value. You can effectively create composite elements (e.g. date, hierselect).
You mention "Warning: The setDefaults line must precede the addElement line". This should in fact work in any order. If it does not, please submit a bug report with example code.
The warning only applies to hierselect - do you believe that the order is still unimportant for hierselect? If so then I will submit a bug report (where do I do that?).
It *should* be unimportant. You submit bugs at http://bugs.php.net and set category to "PEAR related".
BTW, what was this tutorial written in? I suspect the HTML was generated, can you please post the 'source' as well?
It was written using the Gentoo documentation toolkit (Gentoo is a Linux distro). See http://www.gentoo.org/ in general and http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/xml-guide.xml in particular. The source is XML; I'm happy to make that available but perhaps anyone who wants it could contact me via mail.
They are saying "This makes it easy to transform guide into other formats, such as DocBook XML/SGML or web-ready HTML." Do they have a tool to transform it to DocBook XML (which is used for PEAR manual)? And yes, I'm interested in getting the source. :]
