Unfortunately I didn't find go-pear.bat at http://cvs.php.net/cvs.php/php-src/pear/scripts . (Hope that was the place you meant). So I tried the second alternatve. From the Start-menu I chosed Run and wrote: "C:\apache\php-4.3.3-Win32\cli\php.exe go-pear.php". (go-pear.php is ver. 1.52). A DOS-prompt window appeared just as fast as it dissapeared. The go-pear.bat I use is <snip> @ECHO OFF set PHP_BIN=cli\php.exe %PHP_BIN% -n -d output_buffering=0 PEAR\go-pear.php This line should read%PHP_BIN% -d output_buffering=0 PEAR\go-pear.php
pause </snip> That will fix the problem. The reason is clear from the output of php -h. Observe:C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>"\program files\php\cli\php" -h Usage: php [options] [-f] <file> [args...]
php [options] -r <code> [args...]
php [options] [-- args...]
-a Run interactively
-c <path>|<file> Look for php.ini file in this directory
-n No php.ini file will be used -d foo[=bar] Define INI entry foo with value 'bar' -e Generate extended information for debugger/profiler -f <file> Parse <file>. -h This help -i PHP information -l Syntax check only (lint) -m Show compiled in modules -r <code> Run PHP <code> without using script tags <?..?> -s Display colour syntax highlighted source. -v Version number -w Display source with stripped comments and whitespace. -z <file> Load Zend extension <file>.
args... Arguments passed to script. Use -- args when first argument
starts with - or script is read from stdin
-n says "No php.ini file will be used"
