Hi Folks:
HTML_Form had three outstanding bugs in the bug system. In addition,
there were several undocumented bugs.
The existing package is maintained by Stig and hasn't seen any activity by
him since January 2003. The existing release is approaching a year old.
Though I haven't attempted to communicate with Stig about this package, I
figured it wouldn't be worth bothering because I've never received a reply
from him on other matters.
Even though HTML_Form is superceded by HTML_QuickForm, the package is
still in use and it's still in the repository. So, it should work right.
So, I took it upon myself to overhaul the package. Each method has been
tested. The package validates and installs properly.
The changes have been committed to CVS. Perhaps I should have waited,
sorry. Either way, check out the changelog to see what was done.
In closing, release 1.0.1 is broken and leaving it as the official version
of HTML_Form reflects poorly on PEAR's quality. I hope the you agree that
turning the recently committed code into a new release is a good idea.
Thanks,
--Dan
PS: I'm not on the QA list.
