HTML_Safe package taking over

Hi all, I want help community to maintaining HTML_Safe package. Right now I am an employee for Quepasa.com Mexico. we are developing on PHP 5 and using safeHTML package, so my first case will be upgrade from current code of HTML_Safe to PHP 5.3 strict, I think should be a new project called as HTML_Safe2 or using the current, what do you think? We are depending from safeHTML, so I am happy to be part of the team (pear developers), so my first reason to do this is because we need an update package for security reasons.
