Before you can get officially maintainer of the package, we would like to see if you're really up to it and that you are following the PEAR guidelines. The best way to get into development of a package is to submit patches to open bugs and feature requests in the bug tracker. Or opening new bugs/requests with patches attached. Apart from that, get subscribed to the pear-dev mailing list. When you submitted patches, notify us on the list so we can review the patches and we'll either commit the patches to svn or tell you what should be made better.
