The idea is to put an XML file in each package distribution with all the
meta information. There is no DTD yet, so here's a format suggestion:
<?xml version='1.0'?>
<package>
<packagename>Some/Package</packagename>
<originator>POOH</originator>
<maintainer sameas="originator"/>
<version type="stable">1.0</version>
<version type="devel">2.0</version>
<copyright sameas="originator"/>
<summary>Some package to do something</summary>
<description>Full description of the package</description>
</package>
Content models for the different elements:
package: (packagename, originator, maintainer, version+, copyright,
summary, description)
packagename: CDATA
originator: CDATA (author id)
maintainer: CDATA? (author id or sameas= attribute)
version: CDATA
copyright: CDATA? (author id or sameas= attribute)
summary: #PCDATA
description: #PCDATA
