On a almost unrelated topic, prehaps we want for force on people the linux
kernel numbering scheem, major.minor.release where
major dosent mean much (but major<1 means 'devel')
minor = 0 or even means 'stable'
release is bugfixes inside a version
Looking at cpan, it could take years before anything is 1.x.x, and we realy
couldnt force this on people, but (and I dont know anything about xml) we
could do a:
<version type="major">1</version>
<version type="minor-stable">0</version>
<version type="release-stable">0</version>
<version type="minor-devel">1</version>
<version type="minor-stable">0</version>
And complain if the minor-stable and release-stable dont fit in....
> <version type="stable">1.0</version>
> <version type="devel">2.0</version>
