GPL will infect the code you write and thus make it GPL too.
Normally we say "no" to this kind of thing, but then we have this:
http://viewcvs.php.net/viewcvs.cgi/pecl/smbc/,
which is the "same" as
your effort.
A bit of a tricky situation. However, my friend Luke (hi Luke!)
recently announced that a lot of his Samba related code is now
available under a do-what-you-like license.
Maybe this covers smbclient, or maybe (if you ask him really really
really nicely; he's really busy) he can conjure up something we can
use without RMS and his gang attacking the PHP project.
