Hi, We've (http://fotopic.net) been using an old php module called php_imlib for the past year or two now as a backend to our image processing system. We've also been using Image::Imlib2 in perl for bulk or cron'd tasks, but any dynamic resizing of images has been done using php_imlib. Now, php_imlib used to be kicking around here: http://mmcc.cx/php_imlib/ , but the author seems to have lost interest in the project with no updates since the end of Feb, 2001. We've been doing small changes, bug fixes and new feature implimentations to php_imlib since we started using it, but have kept these in-house up to date. We've now come to the point where we can't get the damn thing to compile against 4.3.x or 5.0-beta3. This, obviously, isn't a situation we're particuarly happy about. As such, we're going to re-write php_imlib from scratch; and I would like, if possible, to add the extension to PECL. Fotopic.net is, and always has been, a hobby for all of us involved with it, it's built on entirely open-source software and makes extensive use of php, perl, mysql and slackware linux. It seems only right therefore for us to contribute back to the community which has made fotopic possible. I'm proposing calling the extension simply "imlib2" with function names following the "imlib2_*" style, and obviously following the php coding standards. anybody got any opinions, major problems with this, etc etc - or should I go ahead and fill in the form on pecl for adding a new module ? Cheers -- Gareth Ardron resident geek @ http://fotopic.net
