Hi Jake,
The thought had occured to me and I may end up doing so at some
point. However I have been using PHP professionally for several years
and I
like the syntax, I also like some of the newer frameworks like CakePHP
and Zend. I also like the (Java inspired) enhancements added in PHP5.
My intention was not to insult anyone and if I hadn't liked PHP to
begin with I wouldn't be using it. I am a serious developer and I
merely want a more reasonable answer to what I felt was a decent and
honest proposal that was dealt with in a pretty flippant way.
I feel the logic here is inconsistent, on the one hand MySQLi
deserves to exist alongside the procedural mysql_ functions, and
presumably there are no objections to OO interfaces to extensions that
are wrappers for external libraries, but anything close to the core is
out of the question. I can understand that people want to protect the
core of a very decent language from unnecessary overhead but perhaps
there is room discussion or for an extension for people who want to
use it.
Regards,
Mark
