Pierre,
Barry: If you are ready to move to a BSD license, that would be best. However, if you need to stick to the GPL variants, LGPL will be sufficient to host your PHP License extension on PECL. Be aware though that the LGPL library cannot be "hosted" on PECL.
Please don't misguide developers. LGPL v2 is fine, v3 is a huge unknown and different area. That's why I can't say (and won't say) that it is perfectly valid to use it with PHP.
Whatever library is OK for PECL could anybody make http://pecl.php.net/account-request.php be more specific about LGPL? Currently it says: "Note: wrappers for GPL libraries will not be accepted, and extensions for LGPL libraries are strongly discouraged." I read here on LGPL "not wanted, but ok, if we really have to."
