That's all well and good, but there are innumerable instruction sets out
there that suggest c:\php, and, as I recall, it's because the space in
'Program Files' messes up when used as a pathname for some functions. And
it's not as simple as just using "Program\ Files" or anything like that to
fix it...
Frankly, having a space in a directory name or file name is just dumb.
People do *not* need *that* much hand-holding. Not that I'm suggesting we
go back to 8.3 either :-)
Now this *might* be a fixed bug: But if it's not, you're asking for
trouble...
Maybe somebody could search the PHP Mailing List archives for "Program
Files" and see what it was that got broken by it.
In theory, all the QA will unearth the problem before we get to release...
No offense, but I'm a pessimist, and would not rely on this.
