Hi Hans, On Mon, May 4, 2009 at 3:37 PM, Hans Zaunere <lists@zaunere.com> wrote:ZoeOne thing we're still trying to figure out, however, is the actual logistics of the day and how to keep everyone on track (and in fact what those "tracks" are).Last year we had 10 attendees and one mentor (Sebastian). The "track" was relatively simple: We had an introductory presentation by Sebastian on how to test. Sebastian had made the choice of going to test the Reflection API, so we made a list of untested functions in Reflection, which were written on a whiteboard. Then, functions were assigned to the attendees based on what the attendees wanted to work on. As they finished the tests for a function, they marked it as done on the whiteboard and assigned themselves a new function to test. This worked remarkably well, at least for the 10 attendees we had. But I think this is scalable. It might work well to prepare the lists of things to test (we did it then and there, but it is something that is easily preparable by checking code coverage reports). During the test-writing, Sebastian was helping people with problems they came by, and the organizers helped as well here and there with more general problems (workstation setup, submitting the tests to the issue tracker). Our biggest issue (setup problems) is solved by the virtual machines that are now available (or will be tomorrow, as I understood from Pierre). I think it was about the same for London, our set-up problems weren't too bad because we had sticks with (a) A PHP source tree (exe on Windows), (b) the docs. Even so, we had about 20 attendees and 5 (?) helpers - the helpers were kept pretty busy getting people's environment set up. The network was a bit of a headache. The thing that none of us anticipated was that the air conditioning was automatically switched off at 18:00 :-/ It was like a sauna by 22:00. There's always something you don't think of...
