Has anyone managed to successfully get that combo (or 1.3.11/2.5.0) running? I'm experiencing what I think must be mod_ssl-related problems while trying to compile/run today's CVS version for Apache 1.3.9/mod_ssl 2.4.10 on a Red Hat 6.0 box. After I build and install Apache/mod_ssl, I can start it up either with or without -DSSL as long as I don't load in the PHP module -- works fine, serves pages, etc. I then grabbed the latest cvs and compiled as follows: buildconf CFLAGS=-DEAPI ./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs --without-gd --without-mcrypt --enable-track-vars cd Zend buildconf CFLAGS=-DEAPI ./configure cd .. make make install and then restart Apache with or without ssl. In both cases, Apache starts up and then immediately shuts right back down without complaint -- no segfaults or anything, and gdb says it's exiting normally. If I then edit the conf file and comment out the LoadModule/AddModule/AddType for PHP, Apache starts up and serves out pages. Apache's not leaving anything in the log files when it dies on startup, although I found that if you run httpd -t while PHP's enabled, it reports "Syntax OK", and then segfaults (GDB backtrace at bottom). I've logged every aspect of configure, make, and make install for Apache, mod_ssl, and PHP, and found nothing amiss. I'm reasonably sure that this is related to mod_ssl, because Apache 1.3.9 and this same CVS version will work just fine together if I leave mod_ssl out of the mix. In fact, this box was originally running 1.3.9 with mod_ssl 2.4.6 and the 4.0b3 distribution, with nary a problem. I tried to upgrade to 1.3.11, was running into the same problem, and decided to step back down to 1.3.9 with mod_ssl 2.4.10. Just to get the box back up, I've downgraded to mod_ssl 2.4.6, and everything's fine (using identical commands to compile). I'll be cross-posting to the apache-modssl list, since I'm really not sure if the problem is with PHP or with mod_ssl. Can anyone shed a little light on this for me?
