I'm experiencing the exact same symptoms with PHP4.0b3 on Apache
1.3.11-4 (RedHat rpm) but I'm not using mod_ssl.
This is on a clean install of the new RedHat 6.2 beta using egcs
1.1.2-27
for the build and configured as such:
configure --with-apxs=/usr/sbin/apxs
--with-config-file-path=/etc/httpd/conf --disable-debug
--with-mysql=/usr --with-system-regex --enable-bcmath
--with-mcrypt=/usr/bin --with-xml
Interestingly, when I built PHP4b3 on Apache 1.3.9 (using the above
configure params) then upgraded to Apache 1.3.11-1 rpm, everything
continued to work fine on that particular machine.
As a test, I copied off the libphp4.so file from the working server to
the test server and Apache still failed to start. I'm going to try
downgrading the new server to Apache 1.3.11-1 rpm and see if that fixes
it.
