Hello Gerry, On 20-Feb-00 12:27:05, you wrote: >The problem you are having with ODBC connections can be fixed in your code b >y explicitly calling odbc_free_result on any and all results. By doing this I did that. That is not the problem. Not calling odbc_free_result may make the server crash sooner but even with that it will crash sooner or later. I suspect that may have to do with concurrent ODBC access, as I managed to make it crash really quick with a a server stressing tool named httperf that may establish a bulk of simultaneous HTTP connections to a server. In case that helps the developers to find the source of the problem quicker, I have developed a Web interface for httperf that is available here: http://phpclasses.UpperDesign.com/browse.html/package/27 >I've been able to reliably use the ISAPI version on Windows 2000/NT4. Even if I haven't called odbc_free_result, crashes can't be excused by that. PHP should be able to clean-up properly after itself. >However, a general question to the group is when will this be fixed. It is >still in the daily builds (as of a few days ago). According to the document >ion you shouldn't have to call odbc_free_result. Right, my guess is that it will be fixed when the developers in charge of maintaining the ODBC support needs it to work properly that fixing that code gains priority in his todo list. This bug makes odbc support with ISAPI in PHP 4 unusable because no production site can risk to be shutdown by crashes like this. Anyway, PHP 4 is in beta stage. If you use beta materials in production sites that is mostly your responsability. Regards, Manuel Lemos Web Programming Components using PHP Classes.
