: Well, from all apps mentioned only MySQL is using threads, and even then:
: a) I'm not sure they didn't took care of this already
: b) Will you really need 256 MySQL threads? That means at least 256 Apache
: processes, which should require *real lot* of memory. I fear 256 Apaches +
: 256 MySQL's would be too much for one computer's memory. But I don't
: believe you really will have (or should have) so much load. In any case,
: if you make MaxServers for apache to be about 60-80-100, it should be
: enough and MySQL should never need too much threads.
256 threads limit means that MySQL (or Apache) cannot process
more than 256 queries at a time. *Loaded* sites may get 1000
reads at a time (include local cron daemons and other stuff as well).
FreeBSD supports a large number of threads as well as Solaris, BSDI
and others.... One would not want to take chances even when queries
complete often in 0.0X second, it may take more time (say, after a
month you have 10 million more records), so you can hit this limit!
Having 256 threads doesn't mean that it will take up too much
memory, what if if 255 threads are just ... sleeping? ;-)
