I have figured out why ext/java won't work with the Sun 1.2.2 JDK for
Linux, and in the process gotten the code to work with the Blackdown 1.2.2
RC4 for Linux. Interfacing Java with C code which makes system calls
requires the JDK to support native threading, and this is not suppored with
the Sun JDK at this time.
In the process, I also greatly simplified the configuration requirements
for run ext/java on Unix platforms.
In addition to the Blackdown JDK, the IBM 1.1.8 and Kaffe 1.0.4b4 and 1.0.5
JVMs can be used on Linux.
