Try cutting down that script more and more, until you have the smallest script that still features the problem. For instance, I'm pretty sure you won't have to select 10 different fields for this problem to occur. See if you can select just 1 or 2 fields. See if you have to reach any specific part of the script for it to happen. For instance, see if you even have to reach the loop. If you do have to reach the loop, see if you have to just reach the first iteration of the loop (i.e., try removing the loop construct,and just keep the loop body in there) or whether you have to have at least two iterations.
The overflow that happens here is almost certainly something that has to do with a compilation problem. My guess is that PHP compiles against its own MySQL headers, but gets linked with your system MySQL libraries, and that they are incompatible with each other. Where do your system MySQL library reside? By the way, are you compiling a DSO or a static module?
Sascha - can this happen? Is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening?
