what i do right now is that i close the connection and remove
it from the persistent list once a fatal error has happened!
that should take care of this situation mostly. this is done
in ociexecute (oci8.c:1188) - maybe we just need to add
'nother error-code here to make it work for you
-OR-
there is some commented out code that will check the
connection *before* it's returned to the script in
ext/oci8/oci8.c line 2062. just uncomment the oci_ping stuff
and connections will be "pinged" before returned to the
script!
