Hello all,
I work for an Internet start-up named Core Technologies that is using PHP
and MySQL. We are in the process of converting to Oracle.
Question: There was a documented problem with the PHP3 Oracle API (as cited
in "Core PHP Programming " by Leon Atkinson) that had to do with executing
stored procedures. Apparently they can be executed, but the results cannot
be returned. The suggested workaround was to code the procedures to write
results to a temporary table, and do a subsequent read to get them. This is
a severe performance penalty to pay partcularly for large databases with
high volume access. Does anyone know if this problem been resolved in
PHP4/OCI8? If not, who would be the right person to talk to for more
information and/or assistance in getting it resolved? I actually sent
e-mail to Zend but have not gotten a response as yet. I called as well, but
they are on holiday at the moment (Israel Independence Day). Thanks in
advance.
